Week 11 News

Hello all club members,

You must have gotten so many e-mails lately from the Taekwondo Club, so I
apologies if it’s getting quite annoying after a while lol.

So, there have been many things happening lately in the club, and we in the
Committee have been ever so busy.

Firstly, and most importantly, those of you wishing to join the "Daniel
Must Cut His Hair" Facebook Group can do so by clicking this link:

Secondly, the next grading will be held on October 25th. It will start from 1pm and go on until around 3pm. Afterwards, we will all celebrate with a late lunch nearby in either Glebe or Newtown. For those that need help for the grading, including black belts that will be re-grading, please come and see either myself or Daniel Kim. We really wanna help you all and see you all succeed! ^^

For all black belts and also red belts, I am quite keen on having special classes where we can all teach each other things such as patterns, one-step sparring and self-defense. The black belt regarding has been the focus of controversy for some time, but really, speaking for Master Seo and myself I can honestly say that we are not just trying to find ways to fail you. We really do want to see you all succeed. Note: No special treatment will be given for Committee Members as even I have to regrade. Next, night time classes will begin at 6:30pm from Wednesday 15th of October, and will run at this time until the end of the year. As for next year, we hope to book night time classes to start at 6:30pm.

Furthermore, the Taekwondo Club Committee elections are coming up towards the end of this month. The seats up for contention are:

President
Vice-President
Secretary
Treasurer
Social Events Co-ordinator
IT Director
Equipment Manager
Publicity Officer

Sydney Uni Taekwondo Club is one of the biggest and fastest growing sports clubs in the University of Sydney. This year we have come 2nd at the Australian University Games so if you want to be a part of a bright and successful team, and lead the club into becoming one of the best in all of Australia, please consider a role in the Club Committee.

Also, a Taekwondo tournament is coming up on the 26th of October known as the Taekwondo World Championships. Don’t be fooled by the name though, it’s not the world championships. There is an association of Sydney Taekwondo clubs that collectively call themselves Taekwondo World. We need about 8 volunteers (hopefully green belt and above), 2 of whom will need current First Aid certificates. The rest of the volunteers will be involved in just checking competitors equipment and generally helping to make sure that the event runs smoothly. Lunch will be provided along with a T-shirt. It will be held at The Brickpit Sport Stadium, 1A Dartford Rd, THORNLEIGH from 9am till 4pm. We will try to provide transport as much as possible. It will be a good experience for those that want to know what its like to run a Taekwondo tournament. Please let me know if you are interested in helping out =)

Lastly, the Taekwondo Club T-shirts are currently being made. Unfortunately
there was some unexpected delays and I apologise for the inconvenience. We really wanted to make the Club T-shirts as awesome as possible and this
consequently took up more time than expected.

Kind regards,

John
